Responsible Tourism

Le Dispensaire de Pakbeng

Le Pakbeng Lodge's free health center is a division of the Association of Doctors of the Mekong. This association built the health center, which has been managed by French doctors since November of 2007. These doctors, who are present three weeks of every month year-round, deliver free care to the local population in Pakbeng and its surrounding villages.

Le Pakbeng Lodge houses the health center on its property, finances the presence of four doctors every year, and takes care of the transportation and accommodation of the entire team.

Le Pakbeng Lodge facilitates the collaboration between the association's doctors and the local structures of health, by arranging meetings and training initiatives.

Le Pakbeng Lodgecollects medicine donated by travelers and gives them to the free health center, which, in turn, organizes and classifies the drugs according to their expiration date.

Enfin le Pakbeng Lodgemanages a fund of donations for this purpose.

The School

Le Pakbeng Lodge has financed the founding of one of the town's schools, and provides students with donations of supplies and clothes offered by travelers.

The Water Reserve

Le Pakbeng Lodge has also financed the building of a water reserve intended to aid the town's inhabitants.

Pakbeng Lodge generates around forty jobs for local staff, but also for the crew of both boats built by the company to transfer travelers to and from Luang Prabang.
